Rohan Khan's Story

Rohan Khan, a 1-year-old boy from Upper Dir, KPK, is suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort. Since the day he was born, he has not spent a single day without facing challenges due to his heart condition. Activities like crying or feeding make him breathless and turn his skin and lips blue. Upon noticing his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a series of tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Rohan with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It is a combination of four heart abnormalities that change the way blood flows through the heart. To save his life, the doctor has strongly recommended CT-Angiography followed by open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond his family’s means.

Not undergoing this life-saving surgery can lead to a worsening of the disease. It may lead to heart failure or even sudden complications that can be fatal.

Rohan lives in a small mud house with his six family members. His father, the sole provider for the family, works as a daily wage laborer and brings in just PKR 18,000 per month. This income is insignificant to manage their utility bills amounting to PKR 3000, food, and other living expenses. After covering their essentials, they are left with nothing to set aside for an expensive heart surgery. They are also burdened by a significant loan of PKR 100,000, which further makes it impossible for them to pay for surgery. During this time of need, they turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Rohan’s family said in despair:

“Since birth, Rohan has been battling with his disease and struggling to survive each day. He deserves to live a healthy life like other kids. The cost of his surgery is beyond our financial capacity. As parents, we just want to save our child’s life. We request you to help us during this difficult time.”
