Support Arshan Ali’s Cochlear Implant Surgery
Arshan Ali's Story
Meet Arshan Ali, an innocent 1-year-old boy from Badeen, Sindh, who has been suffering from the inability to hear the sounds around him since birth. Arshan can’t respond and listen to his parents’ and siblings’ voices. He is missing out on an opportunity to enjoy the precious moments of his childhood that other children take for granted. His parents took him to a nearby hospital and received a consultation from a doctor. After a thorough examination and evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To allow him to hear the marvelous sounds around him, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. However, the surgical cost is beyond Arshan’s family’s financial capacity.
The sooner Arshan receives the cochlear implant, the better his chances of speech and language development which are necessary at his age. If he doesn’t undergo the surgery on time, he might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak.
Arshan lives in a small mud house with his seven family members. His father is a kidney patient and unable to work to provide for his family. His mother is dumb and deaf. Arshan’s uncle financially supports his family to cover daily living expenses. Moreover, his family is burdened with a staggering loan of PKR 500,000. Due to their financial hardships, they can’t afford the costly cochlear implant surgery. During this challenging time, Arshan’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help.
Arshan’s father said in grief:
“All I want is to see my son hearing and responding to my voice. I feel helpless as I am ill and can’t afford to pay for his surgery. We don’t have any savings at all. Kindly support us and allow my son to hear the sounds around him.”
This surgery is Arshan’s only hope to grow and play like other children of his age. Your support matters a lot here.
Let’s join hands and allow Arshan to hear the melodious sounds around him.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.

Arshan Ali's Story
Arshan Ali, a 2-year-old boy from Badin, Sindh, was unable to hear the sounds around him. Arshan smiled and played like other kids, but had never heard his parents’ soothing voices and the laughter of other children. His parents were heartbroken to see him in this condition and they took him to a local hospital to consult a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To allow him to hear and speak, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for Arshan’s family.
Arshan lived in a small mud house with his seven family members. His father was a kidney patient and unable to work to provide for his family. Arshan’s uncle financially supported the family for living expenses. They were already struggling to make ends meet and affording to pay for this surgery was impossible for them. They were hopeless, knowing Arshan would continue to remain deaf if he didn't undergo the surgery. During this time of need, Arshan’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.
On 3rd October 2024, Arshan was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery took place on 4th October 2024. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant. Arshan was hospitalized for two days and received post-operative care. On 5th October 2024, Arshan was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.
Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. Arshan now attends speech therapy sessions, which is another milestone in his successful recovery. Arshan’s parents described their happiness as follows:
“Seeing his face light up when he hears us is a gift we’ll cherish forever. Thank you for helping our little son hear the world. We can never forget your generosity.”
Your support has changed his life, allowing him to hear the voices of those who love him most. Arshan’s family extends heartfelt thanks to you for being a miracle during their time of need.
