Four-year-old Abdul Hadi, a resident of Kasur, was born without the sense of hearing. His parents were clueless about his condition until he was old enough to respond to sounds. He was referred to a specialist in otolaryngology. The doctor ran many tests to diagnose Abdul Hadi. When the reports came out, Abdul Hadi was diagnosed with Sensorineural Hearing Loss. At first, the doctor recommended that Abdul Hadi should get a hearing aid, but his parents couldn’t afford it. Abdul Hadi’s parents took him to a doctor again when his hearing abilities failed to develop after a period of time. Abdul Hadi’s doctor advised him to obtain a Cochlear implant. With this medically implanted neuroprosthetic, Abdul Hadi’s hearing can be corrected.

But sadly, Abdul Hadi’s family cannot afford to pay for this expensive procedure. His father works as a salesman with a meager income and supports a family of five, including four children. It is impossible for him to pay for his son’s Cochlear Implant. Abdul Hadi’s father shared his distress with us in the following manner:

Abdul Hadi's Story

Four-year-old Abdul Hadi, a resident of Kasur, Punjab, had sensorineural hearing loss since birth. The doctor advised cochlear implant surgery upon consultation. He was admitted to National Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Naveed Aslam performed his operation on 04-06-2022. He fixed the internal component of the cochlear implant successfully. He was discharged after one day of stay in the hospital. The external component of his cochlear implant surgery was fixed after seven weeks. He is discovering new sounds every day.
