Three-year-old Mudassir Khair, a resident of Quetta, has been suffering from cyanosis, shortness of breath, and episodes of chest pain. His parents recently noticed his deteriorating health and took him to the hospital. After the diagnostic tests and evaluation, he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with severe cyanosis. This birth defect in the heart is usually described as a combination of four anatomical abnormalities of the heart. Only open-heart surgery can save the lives of patients with this condition. The cardiac surgeon advised Mudassir to undergo Open-Heart surgery for total correction after angiography.

He lives with his parents and seven siblings in a rented house. His father is a laborer who earns PKR 12,000 per month. With his limited income, he struggles to meet all household expenses. He is unable to pay for his son’s surgery. In a depressing tone, his father said:

He contacted Transparent Hands for financial help.

He was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, Lahore, where his operation for total correction along with pericardial tap (TAP) was successfully performed by Dr. Jamal Nasir on 26-07-2023. After a stay of four days in the hospital, he was finally allowed to go home. With the help of the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation and other kind donors, this surgery was made possible. The moment his parents witnessed their beloved son's remarkable recovery, their hearts were filled with gratitude.

After the surgery, not only was his life saved, but a whole new world of possibilities opened up before him. With his health restored, he can now enjoy a carefree childhood, free from the limitations he once faced. A bright future awaits, filled with countless opportunities to explore, learn, and follow his dreams.
