Muhammad Asif Awaits Knee Arthrodesis
Muhammad Asif's Story
Muhammad Asif, a 40-year-old resident of Sialkot, had a road accident and he was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The doctor evaluated his condition and applied a plaster cast to his right leg to heal the fracture. Unfortunately, his pain and discomfort didn’t settle down and he consulted a doctor at a nearby hospital. After performing an X-ray and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Asif with septic arthritis. The condition is caused by an infection that spreads to the joint fluid and tissues, often due to bacteria, viruses, or fungi. To treat this issue, the doctor recommended knee arthrodesis, also known as knee fusion.
Due to this condition, Asif experiences pain while carrying out routine tasks. What makes it worse for him is that he can’t afford to pay for the surgery. Muhammad Asif lives in a rented house with his wife and two children. He is the family’s only breadwinner, works as a daily wage laborer, and earns just PKR 15000 per month. With this meager monthly income, he barely manages to pay for the house rent, utility bills as well as groceries. This much-needed surgery is very costly and he cannot afford it. During this time of need, Asif turned to Transparent Hands and asked us for help.
He said with teary eyes:
“I feel pain and swelling in my knee and daily tasks have become challenging for me. I am a laborer and it is affecting my work. I am unable to manage my pain, which makes it challenging to stay active at work. My income is insufficient and I have no savings to pay for the surgery. My family relies on me for living expenses. Please support me during this time of need.”
Asif is hopeful that generous donors like you will help him. Please contribute for his knee surgery which will enable him to walk again with independence.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Muhammad Asif's Story
Muhammad Asif, a 40-year-old resident of Sialkot, faced immense challenges after a road accident left him with a fractured right leg. He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors applied a plaster cast to heal the fracture. However, his pain and discomfort persisted, so he decided to consult another doctor. After conducting an X-ray and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Asif with septic arthritis - a condition caused by an infection that spreads to the joint fluid and tissues. To address his worsening condition, the doctor recommended knee arthrodesis, also known as knee fusion, which is a procedure to alleviate the pain and stabilize the knee. However, Asif was unable to pay for his surgery.
Asif’s condition caused him significant pain, making it difficult to perform daily tasks. He lived in a rented house with his wife and two children. Asif worked as a daily wage laborer and earned only PKR 15,000 per month. His limited income barely covered the house rent, utility bills, and groceries, leaving no room for medical expenses. During this challenging time, Asif turned to Transparent Hands for assistance. Upon hearing Asif’s plight, we registered his case.
On November 15, 2024, Asif was admitted to the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Differently Abled (PSRD) in Lahore. The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Saleem on November 16, 2024. Asif remained under medical care for two days and was discharged in stable condition on November 18, 2024.
Asif shared his happiness as follows: “My pain had become unbearable, and I thought I’d never find relief. You gave me hope and helped me regain my life. I am no longer experiencing pain and discomfort. I will forever be thankful for this kindness.”
Muhammad Asif's surgery was a success, and he is now looking forward to living a healthy and happy life. The pain that once limited his every move has been alleviated, and he can now carry out his daily tasks without discomfort. Asif and his family are deeply thankful for your support. You allowed him to lead a pain-free life.
