Muneer Ahmad's Story

Muneer Ahmed, a 44-year-old resident of Muzaffargarh, was suffering from osteoarthritis of his hip joints. This disease was causing extreme pain in his hip joints, especially the right one. He went to the doctor for his checkup. The doctor diagnosed him with Osteoarthritis (OA). The most common type of arthritis, osteoarthritis, affects millions of individuals around the world. When the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones breaks down over time, it causes this condition. Although osteoarthritis can affect any joint, it is most typically seen in the hands, knees, hips, and spine.

The orthopedic surgeon advised him to undergo non-cemented right Total Hip Replacement (THR). In Total Hip Replacement surgery, the hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant. Total hip replacement is the only treatment that will make it possible for him to walk without pain again, but it is also a costly surgery and he is unable to pay for it. He works as a laborer and earns only PKR 10,000.

He is the sole earner in the family and hardly manages to put food on the table. Muneer shared his distress with us in the following manner:

Muneer Ahmad's Story

Muneer Ahmed, a 40-year-old resident of Muzaffargarh, had been suffering from pain and swelling in his right hip joint for the last fifteen years. Upon consultation, he was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis of the hip. The doctor advised him to undergo Non-Cemented right Total Hip Replacement. He was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust Hospital, Multan, where his operation was performed by Dr. Adeel on 17-08-2022. His operation was successful and he was discharged after five days of stay in the hospital. He can walk without pain now.
