At the tender age of one, Mushtaq’s parents noticed his hearing loss when he failed to respond to their voices. Seeking answers, they sought medical assistance at a local hospital. The diagnosis of sensorineural deafness opened their eyes to the possibility of cochlear implant surgery as a solution. This remarkable procedure employs electrical stimulation of the cochlear nerve, comprising external and internal components. The external part, discreetly attached behind the ear, captures sounds through a microphone before transmitting them to the internal implant.

Mushtaq Ahmed comes from a humble family in Sukkur, where his father single-handedly provides for their needs, earning a monthly income of PKR 30,000. The burden of medical expenses weighs heavily on their shoulders, making it impossible to afford the much-needed surgery. Mushtaq Ahmed’s distressed father shares his concerns:
