Nazneen Bibi's Story

Nazneen, a 40-year-old resident of Karachi, has been experiencing sudden and severe pain in her upper right abdomen due to the presence of gallbladder stones. As a dedicated housewife, she carries numerous responsibilities within her household. However, the intense pain she is enduring has made it nearly impossible for her to perform daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes. Sadly, her family is unable to afford the expenses associated with the necessary surgical procedure.

For the past three years, Nazneen has been suffering from repeated bouts of biliary colic. Initially, she sought medical help at a local hospital where she was prescribed painkillers. Unfortunately, the prescribed medications did not alleviate her pain. Over time, her condition worsened, prompting her to revisit the hospital for further evaluation. After undergoing diagnostic tests, the doctor confirmed that she had been diagnosed with cholelithiasis, a condition characterized by hardened deposits of digestive enzymes in the gallbladder and she needs. If left untreated, gallstones can obstruct the bile duct and potentially lead to severe infections that is why she urgently needs Gallbladder Removal Surgery.

Upon receiving her diagnosis, the doctor recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure that involves making three or four small incisions in the abdomen. Through one of these incisions, a small, illuminated device is inserted to facilitate the removal of the gallbladder.

Nazneen resides in a rented house with her husband and five other family members. Her husband, the sole breadwinner of the family, earns a meager income of just PKR 10,000 per month. Given their financial instability, they are unable to afford the necessary surgical treatment.

With a dull tone, Nazneen shared her pain, expressing,

“Sometimes, the pain in my abdomen becomes so unbearable that I am unable to sit or stand, and tears stream down my face. I desperately need your support to alleviate my pain and regain an active life for the sake of my family.”

Upon hearing of Transparent Hands, Nazneen’s family approached us with hopeful expectations. The case has been registered, but the support of generous donors is needed to provide Nazneen with the life-changing surgery she urgently requires.
