With a monthly income of PKR 30,000, they reside in a rented two-marla house, with just one room to accommodate their growing family. Utility bills amount to PKR 3,000, house rent adds another PKR 2,000 to their expenses, and a looming loan repayment of PKR 50,000 only adds to their burden. In such circumstances, Neelam and her husband find themselves without the resources to afford the necessary surgical expenses for her safe delivery.

Neelam Khan's Story

Neelam Khan, a 27-year-old resident of Karachi, was pregnant with her second child and faced a challenging moment. She had previously undergone a C-section, placing her at higher risk of complications. This time, her doctor recommended an elective C-section to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. However, the cost of this procedure was a significant concern for her family.

Neelam lived in a small, rented one-room house with her husband and child. Her husband worked as a daily wager, earning just PKR 30,000 per month. This modest income barely covered the family’s basic needs, including rent, groceries, and utilities. With their limited resources, affording the C-Section was impossible. During this time of need, Neelam and her husband turned to Transparent Hands for assistance. With the generous support of donors, Neelam’s elective C-section was scheduled at one of our panel hospitals.

On May 29, 2024, Neelam was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. Dr. Samreen performed the surgery successfully. Neelam gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Both mother and baby were carefully monitored during their hospital stay and were discharged in stable condition on May 31, 2024.
