Rania Abdul Rehman's Story

Rania, a 1-year-old girl from Lahore, is facing a challenging moment in her life. Rania has a smile that can light up any room, but she can’t hear. After noticing her inability to hear, her parents took her to a local hospital. The doctor performed some medical tests and diagnosed Rania with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To open the door to the world of sounds for her, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for Rania’s parents.

If she doesn’t undergo the surgery on time, she might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak. The sooner Rania receives the cochlear implant, the better her chances of speech and language development, which are important at her age.

Rania lives in a small house with her parents and three siblings. Her father is a police officer and earns PKR 60,000 per month. He is the only breadwinner in the family and it is challenging for him to manage educational fees of PKR 6000, in addition to the grocery expenses, utility bills, and other household expenses. Rania’s much-needed surgery is expensive, making her parents worry day and night. They wish to give her a future where she can have the same opportunities that other kids of her age can avail. With hope in their hearts, Rania’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.

Rania’s parents said in grief:

“Every day without the ability to hear is a challenge for our child. This surgery is simply too expensive for us. It breaks our hearts to think about the opportunities she might miss out on.  We are asking for your help in giving our daughter the chance to hear and communicate. We want her to experience the world fully. Please support her surgery.”

The cochlear implant surgery represents hope for Rania and her family. It will open doors for her to engage with her surroundings, make friends, and thrive in her early childhood education.

Rania Abdul Rehman's Story

Rania, a 1-year-old girl from Lahore, had been living in a world of silence since birth. Her inability to respond to sounds, laughter, or even her name deeply worried her parents. They noticed her unresponsiveness and consulted a doctor. After a series of tests, the doctor diagnosed Rania with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To give her the gift of hearing, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. This life-changing procedure was necessary to enable her to hear sounds and develop speech. Unfortunately, the high cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial reach.

Rania lived in a small house with her parents and three siblings. Her father, a police officer, earned a modest income of PKR 60,000 per month. This income just covered their basic living expenses. The thought of affording such an expensive surgery seemed impossible, leaving her parents heartbroken. Desperate to help their daughter, they learned about Transparent Hands and decided to seek assistance. After listening to their concerns, we registered Rania’s case and ensured that she would receive the much-needed care.

On 1st December 2024, Rania was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore. The internal component of her cochlear implant was successfully inserted by Dr. Imran Saeed. Rania was discharged in stable condition the next day.

The external component of the implant will be installed after six weeks. After that, Rania will begin her speech therapy sessions to develop communication skills.

Rania’s parents shared their heartfelt gratitude with the following words:

“You have enabled our daughter to explore sounds. Thank you for giving her this incredible gift and for changing her future.”

Today, Rania is on her way to a brighter and more fulfilling future. Her family is forever grateful to you for making this cochlear implant surgery possible and giving their little girl new hope in life.
