One-year-old Muhammad Bin Saqib, a resident of Lahore, has been suffering from shortness of breath, cyanosis, and repeated episodes of chest pain. His parents learned about his condition recently and took him to the local hospital. After a thorough evaluation and some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with multiple heart conditions, including pulmonary atresia (PA), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and ventricular septal defect (VSD). The cardiac surgeon advised him to undergo open-heart surgery for Blalock-Taussig (BT) shunt to give him a chance at a healthy life.

He lives with his parents and three siblings. His father is the only earner and earns just PKR 15,000 per month. He is not in a stable financial situation to pay for the cardiac surgery. He said in despair:

“My son’s life hangs in the balance, and I am filled with both fear and hope. Only your donations can offer him a chance to overcome his ailing heart. Muhammad Bin Saqib, a one-year-old from Lahore, had been facing numerous health challenges, including shortness of breath, cyanosis, and recurring chest pain. His parents recently discovered his condition and promptly sought medical help at a local hospital. After a thorough evaluation and diagnostic tests, the doctor delivered a diagnosis that encompassed multiple heart conditions: pulmonary atresia (PA), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and ventricular septal defect (VSD). To give Muhammad Bin Saqib a chance at a healthy life, the cardiac surgeon recommended open-heart surgery for a Blalock-Taussig (BT) shunt procedure.

With hope in their hearts, Muhammad Bin Saqib's parents admitted him to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. The operation, involving median sternotomy, PA plasty, and the BT Shunt, was skillfully performed by Dr. Asim on 16-08-2023. Following a six-day stay in the hospital, Muhammad Bin Saqib was discharged, ready to embark on the path towards recovery.

The successful surgery was made possible by the expertise of Dr. Asim and the dedicated medical staff at the hospital. Muhammad Bin Saqib's journey to restored health was a product of their skillful efforts and compassionate care.
