Support Shah Jahan in Embracing the World of Sounds

Shah Jahan's Story
Meet Shah Jahan, a 4-year-old boy from Jafarabad, Balochistan, who has been living in a silent world since birth. Concerned about his condition, his parents consulted a doctor, who, after running some medical tests, diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Shah Jahan never responds to his name and cannot hear his parents’ soothing voices. At an age when most children are learning to speak and express themselves, Shah Jahan struggles to communicate his needs. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery —a life-changing device that will allow him to hear and speak. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond what his family can afford.
This surgery is essential for his development, enabling him to learn to speak, engage with others, and lead a happy life. If he doesn’t undergo the surgery on time, he might have to live with hearing loss, as cochlear implant surgery is not as effective after a child crosses the age of 5 years.
Shah Jahan’s father is disabled and cannot provide for his family. His mother struggles to make ends meet by sewing clothes and earns just PKR 20,000 monthly. Shah Jahan lives in a tent with his parents and six siblings. The family survives in extreme poverty and hardly makes ends meet. Due to their financial hardships, affording the cost of the surgery is impossible for them. A ray of hope arose when a neighbor told them about Transparent Hands. His parents promptly reached out and asked us to register his case.
“We just want Shah Jahan to have a normal life, hear our voices, and experience the world around him. We don’t have enough financial means to cover his surgery’s cost. Please help us,” said Shah Jahan’s Parents, their eyes filled with worry.
Your support will be a key to unlocking the world of sounds for Shah Jahan. It will enable him to enjoy the cherished moments of his childhood and live his life fully. Otherwise, as he grows older, his inability to hear will severely limit his opportunities.
Come forward and donate to Shah Jahan’s cochlear implant surgery.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.

Shah Jahan's Story
Shah Jahan, a 4-year-old boy from Jafarabad, Balochistan, had lived in a world of silence since birth. While other children of his age laughed, spoke, and responded to the sounds around them, Shah Jahan remained disconnected. Concerned for their little boy, his parents took him to a doctor. After conducting several medical tests, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised a cochlear implant surgery—a life-changing procedure that could finally give Shah Jahan the gift of hearing and the ability to speak. However, the high cost of the surgery was far beyond his family’s means.
Shah Jahan's family lived in a tent, facing the harsh realities of poverty every day. His father, disabled and unable to work, could not provide for them. His mother worked hard as a seamstress, but her monthly income of just PKR 20,000 barely covered their basic needs. With six children to care for and limited resources, saving for Shah Jahan’s surgery seemed like an impossible dream. The family’s struggle to survive left them hopeless, fearing that their son might never experience the joy of sounds. However, a neighbor told them about Transparent Hands, which brought hope to them. They immediately contacted us. Touched by Shah Jahan’s story, Transparent Hands registered his case.
With the incredible support of generous donors, Shah Jahan was admitted to the National Hospital, Lahore, on April 15, 2025. Dr. Naveed Aslam successfully performed the cochlear implant surgery and inserted the internal component. After careful postoperative monitoring, Shah Jahan was discharged in stable condition on April 16, 2025.
Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant will be installed. Moreover, Shah Jahan will start receiving speech therapy sessions. Shah Jahan’s parents were overwhelmed with gratitude and said: “You have given our son the gift of sounds. We had lost hope, but your support changed our lives forever. Thank you for giving Shah Jahan a future filled with possibilities.” Your kindness opened up a new world for Shah Jahan. His quality of life has improved now. His family will forever be grateful for your generosity and compassion.
