Muhammad Zakwan's Story

Zakwan has a hearing loss and has spent the last two years of his life in silence. He is unfamiliar with all the sounds we take for granted. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Due to financial constraints, his parents are unable to pay for a cochlear implant surgery that would restore his ability to hear. With as little as $10, you can make his surgery a reality. Support Zakwan’s cochlear implant surgery to fill his future with joy.

Two-year-old Zakwan, a resident of Swabi, was born without the ability to hear. His parents noticed this and took him to the hospital for a consultation when he was a year old. After a thorough evaluation and some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor has advised him to undergo cochlear implant surgery, which will enable him to hear. With this device, he will be able to hear and discover sounds for the first time. The cochlear implant has two components. One is surgically implanted close to the ear, and the external component is installed a few weeks after the surgery.

He lives in a small house with his parents and one sibling. His father is a laborer and earns just PKR 15,000 per month. He has no other source of income. A cochlear implant is an expensive surgery. Due to financial constraints, he is unable to afford the surgical expenses. His father said in a depressed tone:

“Seeing his expressionless face because he can’t express himself is disheartening. I wish I could help him in any way I can, but unfortunately, my financial situation won’t allow it. Your financial gift will allow him to hear and socialize.”

His parents found out about Transparent Hands through word of mouth and contacted us for registration. We can get Zakwanl the surgery he needs for a cochlear implant as soon as we get your financial contribution. Zakwan’s parents can’t afford the cochlear implant surgery, and that’s the only thing standing in the way of a better future for him. Support Zakwan’s cochlear implant surgery and allow him to live his life to the fullest.

Muhammad Zakwan's Story

Two-year-old Zakwan, a resident of Swabi, was born without the ability to hear. His parents noticed this and took him to the hospital for a consultation when he was a year old. After a thorough evaluation and some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised him to undergo cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, his family was not in a stable financial situation to pay for the surgery. They contacted Transparent Hands for financial assistance.

He was admitted to Ali Medical Complex, Islamabad, where Dr. Jawad performed his operation on 9-05-2023. The doctor fixed the internal component of the cochlear implant, and the operation was successful. He was discharged after one day in the hospital. However, he had a long way to go before his hearing was fully restored. After a few weeks, he returned to the hospital, where the external component of his cochlear implant was fixed, allowing him to enter a world of sound.

To assist him in developing his language and communication skills, the doctor suggested that he seek out qualified speech therapists. Zakwan will be able to recognize and comprehend the complexity and beauty of speech with the help of speech therapy sessions. His newfound ability to hear opens doors to education, social interaction, and a fulfilling life, with the cochlear implant serving as a bridge to the world of sound. With the implant, he can actively participate in conversations, feeling included and connected at social gatherings. He can form meaningful relationships and share laughter and shared moments with his family, friends, and peers.

The generosity of donors, along with the invaluable support of Transparent Hands, made this life-changing surgery possible for Zakwan and his family. Your help has given him the gift of sound, and its effects will be felt for the rest of his life. Donate us to provide cochlear implants to more children like Zakwan.
