Talha Zaheer, aged 12 years, a resident of Sargodha was feeling pain while passing urine. He was suffering from this condition since his birth. His parents took him to a local hospital and the doctor prescribed him some medicines. But his pain resided even after using the medication. Then his parents took him to another government hospital and after evaluation, the doctors diagnosed him with hypospadias and suggested 1st stage BRACKA repair. Hypospadias is a birth defect in boys where the opening of the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body) is not located at the usual position. 1st stage BRACKA repair is done to treat severe hypospadias. He couldn’t secure an early appointment in the government hospital due to overburdened situations in the hospitals. Now his only option is to get operated in a private hospital.

Talha Zaheer’s father is a laborer and he merely earns PKR. 20,000 per month. He is the only breadwinner of the family with 4 members to feed. In these expensive times, it is very difficult for him to make ends meet with this much income. He told us:
