Noor Firdous's Story

Noor Firdous, a 5-year-old girl from Kashmore, has been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. Noor struggles to survive each day of her life and isn’t gaining proper weight. She was diagnosed with Transposition of Great atreries (TGA). On March 18, 2019, her first surgery for Arterial switch and VSD Closure was performed. She went to the doctor for a follow-up. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Noor with severe Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (LVOTO), a condition characterized by a thickening of the heart muscle and restriction in blood flow from the left ventricle. The doctor recommended Redo Open-Heart Surgery for LVOTO Resection. However, the cost of the surgery is far beyond her family’s financial capacity.

Noor’s heart disease needs to be treated, otherwise, it can cause severe complications and Noor may lose her life. Since birth, Noor’s life has been filled with hardships and obstacles. Any mild to moderate physical activity gives her extreme fatigue and she strives to breathe normally. She has become socially isolated and avoids playing with her friends.

Noor lives in a modest two-marla brick house with her five family members. Her father is the sole breadwinner of the family and works as a daily wage laborer. He has a meager monthly income of PKR 25000. The family is also burdened with a loan of PKR 100,000. The overwhelming cost of the surgery is out of the reach of the family that’s already struggling to make ends meet. With hopes in their hearts, Noor’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Understanding the critical nature of her situation, we registered her case.

Noor’s parents said with teary eyes:

”Every day is a battle for Noor. We feel helpless as we can’t pay for her heart surgery. All we want is to see her play, live, and grow like other kids. Kindly save our daughter’s life. She needs your support.”

The necessary heart surgery will not only alleviate the extreme challenges posed by her heart condition but also reduce the likelihood of long-term complications.

Noor Firdous's Story

Noor Firdous, a 5-year-old girl from Kashmore, had been experiencing shortness of breath, chest discomfort, and failure to gain proper weight since birth. She struggled to keep up with other children of her age and she missed out on many opportunities in life. Noor’s parents consulted a doctor who ran some tests and diagnosed Noor with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA).

On March 18, 2019, she underwent her first surgery for an Arterial Switch and VSD Closure. While her condition improved initially, a subsequent follow-up revealed that Noor had severe Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (LVOTO). The doctor recommended a Redo Open-Heart Surgery. However, the cost of the procedure was far beyond the financial capacity of Noor’s family.

Noor lived in a small brick house with her five family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner of the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned PKR 25000 per month. With this meager monthly income, it was already challenging to pay for household expenses. Noor’s surgery was expensive and its cost weighed heavily over them. During this dark hour, Noor’s parents turned to Transparent Hands for help. Upon reviewing her case, we registered Noor for surgery.

Noor was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore on November 17, 2024. On November 18, 2024, Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed her complex Redo Open-Heart Surgery. Noor remained under close observation for eight days, receiving appropriate post-operative care. She was discharged in stable condition on November 26, 2024.

Noor’s mother, overwhelmed with gratitude, shared her emotions as follows:

“For years, we lived in constant fear for Noor’s life. Her struggle to breathe, to play, and to grow broke our hearts every day. But now, after the surgery, she has a new chance at life. We will forever be thankful to everyone who helped her during this time of need.”

After surgery, Noor is now healthier, stronger, and able to enjoy her childhood like never before. This life-changing outcome was made possible by your generosity and the kind support of the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation. You have given Noor the gift of life and hope for a brighter future. Thank you for making a difference!
