Umaima Ismail's Story

Umaima awaits TOF Repair. Before proceeding on with the details of Umaima’s illness, please know that your smallest contribution will help Umaima live a healthy life. Therefore, we urge you to please donate for Umaima’s Heart Surgery.

Umaima Ismail, aged two, a resident of Multan, has been suffering from a congenital heart disease. The defect shows the symptoms of cyanosis and breathlessness since birth. Umaima’s parents noticed her unusual pattern of often falling sick. Upon consultation, she was advised by the doctor to undergo a number of diagnostic tests to determine her illness. Umaima’s reports revealed that she is suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot.

Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a group of 4 congenital heart defects. The doctor then advised her to undergo a Total Correction – Open Heart Surgery. Tetralogy of Fallot must be repaired with open-heart surgery, either soon after birth or later in infancy. The goal of surgery is to repair the defects of Tetralogy of Fallot so the heart can work as normally as possible. Repairing the defects can greatly improve a child’s health and quality of life.

Umaima’s father is a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR. 20,000. In these gloomy times and a meager income it is impossible for Umaima’s parents to afford the hefty cost of this procedure. A ray of hope still exists at the end of the tunnel in the form of your donations. Umaima’s sorrowed mother expressed her feelings in the following words:

“ I was hopeless and helpless to get my daughter cured. Then we found out about Transparent Hands. They became the angels for my little girl. Now that we have their support I am hopeful.”

We have registered Umaima’s case with us.  We are determined to help her. But, this will not be possible without your support. As Umaima awaits TOF Repair, we request you to kindly contribute generously and donate for Umaima’s heart surgery.

Umaima Ismail's Story

Umaima Ismail, a two-year-old resident of Multan, was suffering from cyanosis and breathlessness on mild exertion since birth. Upon cardiac assessment, she was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). She was advised by her cardiologist to undergo open-heart surgery for total correction. For this purpose, she was admitted to The University Of Lahore Teaching Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Faiz Rasool performed open-heart surgery for total correction of TOF on 14.12.2021. After three days of hospital stay, Umaima was discharged in satisfactory condition. The surgery was conducted with the support of the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation and other donors. A child who has had surgical repair of TOF, requires lifelong care, an optimized lifestyle, and examinations by a cardiologist. Luckily, now Umaima is beyond the initial stage of treatment and is looking forward to cherishing life to its fullest.
