Waqas Haider Awaits Hernioplasty
Waqas Haider's Story
Waqas Haider, a 36-year-old man from Lahore, has been suffering from pain and discomfort due to a lump in his left groin region for the past ten months. With time, his lump has increased in size and become more painful now. He experiences discomfort and pain while sitting or lifting objects. He went to a nearby hospital and received consultation from a doctor. After performing some lab tests and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed him with a left inguinal hernia. It occurs when a part of the intestine protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall. To alleviate his pain and discomfort., the doctor advised left inguinal hernioplasty. However, the surgical cost is out of his financial reach.
If Waqas does not receive the surgery soon, his condition may lead to serious complications such as a strangulated hernia, where the blood supply to the intestine is cut off. This may cause severe pain, infection, and potentially life-threatening damage to his intestine, requiring emergency surgery.
Due to persistent pain, Waqas is unemployed and can’t provide for his family. He lives in a small rented house with his two family members. His mother teaches students at home and earns PKR 35,000 per month. They are surviving in extreme poverty and it’s challenging for them to pay for the house rent and utility bills with their insufficient monthly income. Waqas’s heart is filled with concerns about what would happen if he doesn’t get the surgery and continues to live with this disease. Waqas found hope when a neighbor told him about Transparent Hands. He reached out to us and asked us for help.
Waqas said in despair:
“I never imagined I would have to struggle with pain, limitations, and the inability to provide for my family. I want a chance to start a new life, free from these hardships. Your kindness will allow me to heal and create a brighter future for my family. I request you to please help me in undergoing this much-needed surgery.”

Waqas Haider's Story
Waqas Haider, a 36-year-old man from Lahore, experienced ten challenging months of persistent pain caused by a growing lump in his left groin. The discomfort increased over time, making simple tasks like sitting or lifting objects challenging. Concerned about his condition, Waqas received medical help.
After running some tests, including lab work and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed him with a left inguinal hernia—a condition in which a portion of the intestine pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall. The doctor recommended a left inguinal hernioplasty, but its cost was beyond his financial reach.
Waqas’s illness left him unemployed, adding to his financial challenges. He lived in a modest rented house with his two family members. His mother worked as a home tutor, earning PKR 35,000 per month—a sum barely sufficient to cover their basic expenses. They were surviving in extreme poverty and affording to pay for the surgery was overwhelming for them. During this time of despair, Waqas turned to Transparent Hands for support. Recognizing the critical nature of his situation, we swiftly registered his case to provide timely assistance.
On November 12, 2024, Waqas underwent surgery at Lahore Care Hospital. Dr. Ahmed Fawad skillfully managed his case and performed the surgery. The procedure was successful, and Waqas was discharged in stable condition after two days of post-operative care.
Waqas shared his heartfelt gratitude as follows:
“I can’t thank you enough for helping me regain my health and dignity. This support has lifted a heavy burden from my shoulders. Now, I can work to provide for my family. Thanks!”
This surgery has not only alleviated his pain but also restored his hope for a better future. He is eager to resume work and provide for his family. Waqas and his loved ones are grateful to you. Your generosity made this life-changing surgery possible.
