Yasmeen Ramzan, 35 years old, a resident of Lahore was suffering from pain and swelling in the navel region (umbilical area) around three years ago. Previously she contracted complicated Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) after her last child birth. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a medical condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein. She is taking anticoagulants for this purpose. The doctor examined the lump and conducted different tests. Her lump was diagnosed as a paraumbilical hernia which is basically a hole in the connective tissue of the abdominal wall. It is located in the midline in close proximity to the umbilicus. The doctors suggested a procedure called Mesh Hernioplasty for her. It is a type of hernia repair surgery in which a mesh patch is sewn over the weakened region of the abdominal wall.
