Zainub Awaits Vaginal Hysterectomy

Zainub Jalal's Story
Zainub Jalal, a 50-year-old woman from Matiari, Sindh, has been suffering from severe physical and emotional distress for the past year. She experiences frequent vaginal bleeding, constant irritation, and a painful sensation of a lump coming out from her vagina. These symptoms have made it nearly impossible for her to perform her daily tasks. Due to her deteriorating condition, Zainub visited a local hospital where she underwent a thorough medical examination. The doctor diagnosed her with Uterine Prolapse, a condition in which the uterus protrudes out of the vagina due to weakened pelvic muscles. To alleviate her symptoms, the doctor recommended a Vaginal Hysterectomy. However, Zainab’s family can’t afford the surgery.
If Zainub is unable to undergo this surgery on time, she may face serious complications including urinary incontinence, painful sores on the cervix, and potential damage to surrounding pelvic organs. These complications will significantly impact her quality of life and cause prolonged suffering.
Zainub lives in a one-room mud house with her husband and two children. Her husband, a daily wage laborer, earns just PKR 15,000 per month — barely enough to meet the family’s basic needs, such as food and utility bills. The family lives in extreme poverty and has no savings to rely on. Affording the cost of surgery is simply beyond their means.
In an emotional moment, Zainub said:
“Each day, this condition makes it harder for me to move and rest peacefully. I feel helpless watching my strength fade. I wish for a chance to recover and live without constant pain. Kindly help me during this time of need.”
