Patient Zarina Bibi is a 40-year-old woman who has been suffering from a hernia for the past year. She and her husband have four kids, and they live in 5 Marla combine house where two more families live together. Only their youngest son is able to go to school because they cannot afford to teach all their children because her husband is a simple rickshaw driver earning 12,000 PKR per month.

A year ago, she suddenly felt severe pain in abdomen and she lost consciousness. Her husband took her to a hospital where the doctor told him that her appendix had ruptured and that she needed an emergency operation, for which they demanded a huge amount of money.

However, he could not afford such large amount, but he could not see to his children’s mother pass away. Finally, he sold his rickshaw and bike, as well as borrowed some money from relatives, and was able to get her surgery done for her appendix problem. After this surgery, they found out there was a complication in the procedure, therefore leading to a painful hernia.

They visited many government hospitals, but none that they visited gave her any attention. Due to her disease, she feels severe pain in her abdomen she is unable to do her household work. Luckily, she found out about the medical camp hosted by Transparent Hands and was able to consult with our doctors about her condition.

Zarina Bibi's Story

Zarina Bibi 40 years of age was suffering from huge Incisional hernia. She experienced abdominal pain and lump at a previous surgery site, done for complicated Appendix at a local hospital. She was advised surgery for this condition. Her Mesh Hernioplasty + Abdominal Lipectomy was done on 09-08-17 in Akram Medical Complex by Dr. Ahmed Fawad. She remained admitted for 4 days and had a good post-operative recovery.
