Muhammad Areeb's Story

Since birth, Muhammad Areeb, a 1-year-old boy from Kasur, has been experiencing challenges due to his heart-related complications. Areeb faces breathlessness and chest discomfort and is unable to lead a healthy life. Activities like crying or feeding leave him gasping for air. Moreover, he remains tired all the time. Worried about his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing necessary tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Areeb with Transitional Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD). It is a heart condition involving two separate Atrioventricular Valve (AV valve) openings, along with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).

To enable his heart to work efficiently, his doctor has advised TAVSD repair surgery. However, the cost of this expensive surgery is overwhelming for his family. Without surgery, Areeb’s condition will worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulties and potential heart failure. His ability to grow and engage in daily activities will remain limited. Timely intervention is necessary to save his life.

Areeb lives in a modest home with his parents and three other family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works at a factory and brings in just PKR 40,000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover their utility bills, amounting to PKR 5000 as well as food and other living expenses. The cost of Areeb’s life-saving heart surgery is beyond his family’s financial reach. In a voice filled with concern, Areeb’s father shared:

“Every breath my son takes is a struggle. Watching him suffer like this breaks my heart. I work hard, but it’s not enough. I humbly ask for your support so he can undergo the surgery he needs to survive.”
