Join the Fight Against Hepatitis C in Sindh & Punjab

Campaign Objective: To eliminate hepatitis C in low-income communities of Sindh and Punjab, Pakistan, by providing free treatments to 500 deserving patients.
Transparent Hands, a leading crowdfunding platform in the healthcare sector, has been taking concrete steps to end the prevalence of communicable diseases in Pakistan. With a decade-long legacy of impactful healthcare interventions, Transparent Hands is now raising funds to eradicate hepatitis C in Punjab and Sindh, which face a high prevalence of this disease.
This initiative is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3.3, which aims to combat hepatitis C by 2030. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also set the same deadline to eliminate hepatitis C.
You can help us combat a virus that significantly hampers quality of life and community health in large parts of Pakistan. Your support can bring a healthier future to 500 patients who cannot afford to pay for their life-saving treatment.
Alarmingly High Prevalence of Hepatitis C in Pakistan
A large number of patients in Pakistan get infected with hepatitis C every year, particularly in underprivileged areas.
With almost 10 million cases, Pakistan has become home to the largest number of hepatitis C patients in the world.
What makes the situation even worse is that the high prevalence rate of hepatitis C is coupled with limited access to treatment options due to financial constraints and insufficient healthcare facilities. In Pakistan, the key reasons for the spread of hepatitis C are unscreened blood transfusions and reused razors, surgical instruments, syringes and needles. Many patients don’t get diagnosed at an early stage of the disease and are already facing serious liver damage by the time they seek treatment.
Identifying Hepatitis C Cases
Since it’s essential to diagnose patients with hepatitis C as early as possible, Transparent Hands holds free medical camps in high prevalence areas. Besides providing free check-ups at these camps, we also make hepatitis B and C screenings available to thousands of deserving people. After identifying deserving patients with hepatitis C, the Transparent Hands team registers their cases for further treatment.
Transparent Hands’ Solution
Transparent Hands has committed to providing effective hepatitis C treatments for 500 patients in Punjab and Sindh. Many patients suffer due to this disease not only because they cannot afford the treatment but also because they cannot pay for the hepatitis C test, which can catch the disease before it damages the liver significantly. Transparent Hands’ initiative includes comprehensive diagnostic services, followed by the administration of treatment that has been proven to be effective against hepatitis C. By partnering with leading healthcare providers in Punjab and Sindh, Transparent Hands guarantees that every patient receives the best possible care and support throughout their treatment journey. Both general donations and Zakat donations will be accepted, as Transparent Hands will treat both kinds of cases, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to essential healthcare services.

You Helped Us Treat 249 Hepatitis C Patients in Sindh
01 Jan 2025
Transparent Hands and The Health Foundation recently collaborated to provide Hepatitis C treatments to over 249 deserving patients in Sindh, Pakistan. Both organizations are committed to providing free healthcare services to those who cannot afford life-changing treatments due to financial hardships.
Hepatitis C is a silent killer, affecting the liver and causing severe fatigue and weight loss. These patients desperately needed the treatment for Hepatitis C, but affording it was beyond their financial abilities. For these 249 patients, the disease had not only taken a toll on their health but also impacted their ability to work and provide for their families. Some patients could not take care of their children or perform routine tasks due to their deteriorating health condition. If left untreated, it could lead to liver damage or failure.
These individuals came from low-income backgrounds, with little to no access to quality healthcare. Many of them were daily wage earners, struggling to make ends meet, and the cost of treatment was far beyond their reach. Without proper medical intervention, their quality of life would have continued to deteriorate. Hepatitis C treatment, which includes antiviral medications and regular monitoring, was their only hope for recovery.
With the support of our generous donors, these Hepatitis C patients underwent successful treatments. Highly qualified doctors provided comprehensive care, including medications and follow-up treatments, to 249 needy patients. After undergoing the whole treatment regimen, they regained their health and hope. This life-saving intervention not only cured their Hepatitis C but also restored their hope for a better future.
Today, these individuals no longer live under the shadow of disease. They have resumed work, are supporting their families, and can now live a life full of possibilities. This success would not have been possible without your generous contributions. Your donations have not only saved lives but also uplifted entire families out of despair.
Together, we have given these 249 individuals a second chance at life, free from the burden of Hepatitis C. We extend our heartfelt thanks to you for making this life-changing treatment possible. The impact you made will never be forgotten.
