Empower Abida to Win the Battle Against Breast Cancer

Abida Bano's Story
At 70 years old, Abida Bano from Karachi is facing one of the toughest challenges of her life. Five months ago, she suffered from pain due to a lump in her right breast. Since then, her health has been steadily declining. Simple activities that once brought her joy, now seem impossible due to fatigue and discomfort. Abida went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran some medical tests and diagnosed her with right-sided breast cancer. After assessing her condition, the doctor advised her to undergo a Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) to prevent the disease from worsening. However, the cost of the procedure is far beyond her financial means.
If Abida does not receive timely surgical intervention, her condition may deteriorate further. The cancer may spread to other parts of her body, leading to severe complications and a drastic decline in her quality of life. Without treatment, the battle against cancer will become even harder, putting her life at significant risk.
Abida is a widowed woman who lives in a small flat with her only son. Her son is the sole provider for their family. He works at a private company and earns a modest monthly income. Due to this, it’s extremely hard for them to manage utility bills, food, and other living expenses. Their financial situation is stretched thin and they simply can’t afford to pay for the surgery. During this challenging time, Abida turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Abida said with teary eyes:
“I never thought I would have to fight such a battle at this stage of life. My son has always been my strength, but this burden is too heavy for him to bear alone. I dream of living a healthy life again, free from pain and fear. I humbly request your help in giving me a chance to recover.”
Your support can change Abida’s life and give her a new lease on life. With your generosity, she can undergo the much-needed surgery and look forward to a healthier future.

Abida Bano's Story
Abida Bano, a 70-year-old widow from Karachi, found herself struggling with one of the most painful and frightening experiences of her life. Five months ago, she began feeling persistent pain due to a lump in her right breast. With time, the pain grew more severe, accompanied by fatigue and physical weakness that made everyday tasks increasingly difficult. Concerned for her well-being, Abida visited a nearby hospital. After a thorough medical examination, including scans and lab tests, the doctor diagnosed her with right-sided breast cancer. Given her age and the condition’s progression, the doctor recommended a Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM). However, her family was unable to pay for her surgery.
Abida lives in a small flat with her only son. Her son, a hardworking employee at a private company, is the family’s sole earner. With a limited monthly salary, he struggles to cover the essential household expenses, including food and utility bills. The idea of affording a major surgery for his mother felt like a distant dream. During this time of desperation, Abida and her son turned to Transparent Hands for support. Understanding the gravity of her situation, we promptly registered her case.
On February 8, 2025, Abida was admitted to Bait-ul-Sukoon Cancer Hospital in Karachi. On February 9, 2025, Dr. Sakina Abidi successfully performed the Modified Radical Mastectomy. Abida received attentive post-operative care and was discharged from the hospital in stable condition on February 12, 2025.
After her surgery, Abida expressed her feelings with deep emotions as follows:
"I had lost hope, thinking this illness would take everything from me. Through your generous support, I can now spend the remaining years of my life in peace. Your kindness brought me relief, strength, and the courage to move forward, and I am immensely thankful to you.”
Abida is now recovering well with new energy and confidence. She can once again enjoy time with her son and look forward to peaceful days ahead.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you.
