Empower Riffat Bibi with an Artificial Leg
Riffat Bibi's Story
Riffat Bibi, a 50-year-old woman from Lahore, has faced immense challenges due to her health. She was diagnosed with diabetes, which led to a severe infection in her left foot. Concerned about her worsening condition, she received medical attention at a local hospital, where the doctor told her that amputation below the knee was necessary. After amputation, Riffat’s life has been filled with hardships. She struggles with daily tasks, finds it difficult to stand, and is unable to walk independently. To restore her mobility, her doctor has recommended a below-knee prosthesis. However, the cost of the artificial leg is beyond her financial means.
Without a below-knee prosthesis, Riffat’s struggles will only intensify. She will remain dependent on others for basic tasks. The lack of mobility may lead to muscle weakness, joint stiffness, and other health complications.
Riffat is unmarried and lives with her sister’s family. Her brother-in-law, a daily wage laborer, earns only PKR 35,000 per month. This income is barely enough to cover their utility bills, food, and other essential living expenses. Despite their financial struggles, they support Riffat as much as they can. However, their limited income makes it impossible for them to afford the cost of Riffat’s artificial leg. During this challenging time, Riffat reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Riffat said in despair:
“I miss walking without support. The loss of my leg has stolen my independence. An artificial leg can bring back my mobility, but we have no means to pay for it. I desperately ask for your support during this difficult time.”
Riffat relies on others for her daily tasks and dreams of regaining her independence to live a happy and healthy life. Transparent Hands has registered her case, and we need your support to help her achieve a better future. Every donation, no matter the amount, can make a meaningful difference in her life.

Riffat Bibi's Story
Riffat Bibi, a 50-year-old woman from Lahore, has faced many struggles in her life. A few years ago, she was diagnosed with diabetes. As time passed, her condition worsened and she developed a severe infection in her left foot. The infection spread quickly, causing her a lot of pain and making it hard for her to walk.
Worried about her health, Riffat went to a local hospital. After examining her foot, the doctor decided to amputate her left leg below the knee. The surgery was done, but it left Riffat in a very tough situation. Without her leg, she found it extremely hard to stand, walk, or even move around her home without help. Her doctor told her that she needed a below-knee prosthesis to get her life back on track. However, the cost of the artificial leg was more than she could ever afford.
Riffat is unmarried and lives with her sister’s family. Her brother-in-law works as a daily wage laborer and earns only PKR 35,000 each month. This small income is spent on food, utility bills, and other basic needs for their family. There was no money left to pay for Riffat’s artificial leg. During this difficult time, Riffat and her family reached out to Transparent Hands for help.
On March 28, Riffat’s left-sided below-knee prosthesis was fitted at the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PSRD) in Lahore. Her procedure was performed under the skilled supervision of Dr. Shabana.
With tears of relief, Riffat said:
“I had lost hope of ever walking again. Today, I can move on my own and feel like myself once more. Your kindness has given me a new life. I am truly grateful for this support.”
Today, Riffat is learning to walk with her new leg. Through your support, she can live with dignity and hope again. She is thankful to you for supporting her during her challenging time.
