Parveen Bibi's Story

Parveen Bibi, a 55-year-old woman from Lahore, is suffering from impaired vision. Her eyesight has made it difficult for her to carry out daily chores and take care of her family. Recognizing loved ones’ faces and walking around her home have become significantly challenging for her. Recently, she visited a doctor at a local hospital. After performing a medical examination, the doctor diagnosed her with bilateral cataract. It is a condition in which the lens of the eyes becomes cloudy and affects clear vision. However, her left eye is more severely affected than the right one. The doctor has recommended left-sided Eye Phacoemulsification with Intraocular Lens Implantation to restore her vision.

The longer her condition remains untreated, the more challenging it will become for her to function independently. If she does not undergo surgery soon, the cataract may lead to complete vision loss in her left eye.

Parveen Bibi is a housewife who spends her days trying to care for her household, despite the growing limitations caused by her fading sight. Her husband works as a laborer and earns around PKR 22,000 per month. They live in a modest home in Lahore, and their monthly utility bills take up about PKR 10,000 of their income. With four children to support and increasing living expenses, the family finds it nearly impossible to afford the cost of the surgery.

“My vision has become so poor that I struggle to recognize my surroundings and complete simple household tasks. I feel helpless when I can’t take care of my family the way I used to. I want to regain my sight and live normally again. Kindly help me receive this much-needed surgery.”
