Enable Roman to Speak
Muhammad Roman's Story
Muhammad Roman, a 4-year-old boy from Chiniot, was unable to hear the sounds around him. Roman had never heard his parents and loved ones’ voices. His parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After undergoing medical tests, he was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss, a reality that no parent is ever prepared for. Last year, his cochlear implant surgery was performed with the support of Transparent Hands. Though his cochlear implant allows him to hear sounds, he cannot yet recognize or understand them. His doctor has now advised speech therapy to help him make sense of the world of sounds around him. However, the cost of the treatment is overwhelming for Roman.
Without this therapy, Roman will struggle to develop speech and communication skills, despite having the implant. His parents know that without speech therapy, his progress will be incomplete and he may never fully experience the joy of communication.
Roman’s father is a police employee who works hard to provide for his family. He lives in a joint family system with his uncle, sharing responsibilities and financial burdens. Despite their combined efforts, their income is just enough to cover everyday expenses. The cost of speech therapy is simply beyond their reach, yet it is the only way for Roman to truly benefit from his cochlear implant surgery. His parents feel helpless, knowing that they cannot afford the life-changing treatment for their son. During this time of need, Roman’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Roman’s family expressed their heartfelt plea as follows:
“When Roman’s cochlear implant surgery was done, we felt like he had been given a new life. But without speech therapy, he is still unable to speak. He looks at us, trying to understand but he cannot. Please help him.”
Roman has come so far, but he needs your help to take the final step toward a world filled with words and conversations. Your support can give him the gift of speech, allowing him to connect with his family and experience life to the fullest. Together, we can help Roman find his voice.

You Empowered Deserving Children with Speech Therapy
19 Mar 2026
For children, saying their first word is one of the most joyful experiences. However, for those born with hearing impairments, even hearing sounds around them is a struggle. These children find it challenging to express their thoughts, emotions, and basic needs, which can lead to frustration, isolation at an early age, and missed development milestones.
Recently, Transparent Hands started providing speech therapy to deserving patients who were unable to speak. These patients had already undergone cochlear implant surgeries through the support of Transparent Hands. While these surgeries enabled them to hear sounds for the first time in their lives, hearing alone does not immediately enable children to understand language and recognize sounds. After cochlear implant surgery, children must learn to recognize and interpret sounds they have never experienced before.
Therefore, their doctors recommended speech therapy. However, these patients belonged to low-income families and couldn’t afford speech therapy sessions. Due to their financial hardships, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Your support made it possible for Transparent Hands to provide speech therapy sessions to these children at the Society for Audiological & Developmental Ailments (SADA) Foundation in Lahore.
Speech therapists worked closely with them through structured exercises and interactive learning sessions. These sessions are helping the children gradually recognize sounds, pronounce words, and communicate with confidence. Some children have already started recognizing familiar voices and responding to simple words. They are still receiving therapy sessions, which improve their communication and quality of life. Here are the details of the children who have received speech therapy through your generous support so far:
