Safia Rani's Story

Meet Safia Rani, a 50-year-old woman from Jhang, who has been struggling with chest pain and breathlessness. Over the years, her symptoms have worsened, making it increasingly difficult for her to carry out routine tasks. Even mild exertion leaves her gasping for breath and she often feels palpitations. These symptoms have affected her physical health and emotional well-being, making daily life a constant challenge.

Recently, she visited a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After running some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed Safia with Myxomatous Mitral Valve and Severe Mitral Regurgitation (MR). This condition disrupts the normal flow of blood and overburdens the heart. Her doctor has strongly recommended a Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR) to save her life.

If Safia does not receive surgery soon, she may face:

Worsening breathlessness and fatigue

Irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias)

Increased risk of heart failure

Permanent damage to the heart muscles

Safia lives in a modest home with her husband and three other family members. Her husband, a retired Air Force employee, now runs a small shoe shop to support the household. The family’s total monthly income is PKR 52,000, which is utilized to manage all their living expenses. With no additional sources of financial support and the high cost of cardiac surgery, they are unable to afford the treatment.

Safia said in despair:

“I’ve lived with this condition for so long, but now it’s becoming unbearable. I want to be there for my family and live without pain. My husband works hard, but he is unable to pay for my surgery. I request you to help me during this challenging time.”

This surgery is the only hope for Safia to lead a healthy life with her family. Together, we can help Safia Rani reclaim her strength and hope.
