Farwa Anjum's Story

Farwa Anjum, a 33-year-old woman from Lahore, is fighting a severe illness that has turned her life upside down. It all started when she noticed a painful lump on her neck. As the pain worsened, she knew something was terribly wrong. After undergoing multiple tests, she was diagnosed with thyroid carcinoma. To fight the disease, she underwent a total thyroidectomy. But her battle is not over yet. Now, her doctor has strongly recommended Radioactive Iodine ablation (RAI) Therapy to eliminate any remaining cancerous foci and prevent the cancer from spreading. Unfortunately, the cost of the treatment is overwhelming for Farwa’s family.

If she does not receive this treatment, the consequences can be life-threatening. Without RAI therapy, the remaining cancer cells may continue to grow and spread to other parts of her body, including her lungs and bones. This can lead to increased pain, breathing difficulties, and severe complications that may ultimately threaten her life.

Farwa is a devoted housewife and a loving mother of five children. She and her family live in a small rented house, struggling to make ends meet. Her husband, a salesman at a clothing company, earns just PKR 30,000 per month. Despite his hard work, they barely manage to cover their utility bills (PKR 2000), house rent (PKR 1500), and educational expenses (PKR 4000) for their children. With their limited income, affording the cost of RAI therapy is out of their reach. But without the necessary treatment, her health will continue to deteriorate. Farwa and her husband have turned to Transparent Hands for support. Farwa said with teary eyes:

“I have already fought so hard, and I don’t want to give up now. My children need me, and I want to live for them. Please help me get this treatment so I can have a healthy life. I request you to support me during this time of need.”

Farwa Anjum's Story

Farwa Anjum, a 33-year-old woman from Lahore, had been suffering from a life-threatening illness. Her struggle began when she noticed a painful lump on her neck. Initially, she ignored it, hoping it would subside. However, as the pain worsened and swelling increased, Farwa realized something was seriously wrong. She visited a doctor at a local hospital. After undergoing a thorough evaluation, she was diagnosed with Papillary thyroid carcinoma. To control the disease, Farwa underwent a total thyroidectomy. Following surgery, her doctor recommended Radioactive Iodine (RAI) Ablation Therapy to destroy any remaining cancerous cells and reduce the risk of recurrence or spread.

Unfortunately, the cost of RAI therapy was overwhelming for Farwa’s family. She is a devoted housewife and a mother of five children. The family lives in a small rented house in Lahore. Her husband works as a salesman at a clothing company and earns only PKR 30,000 per month. This income was insufficient to cover their utility bills and food expenses. Facing financial hardships, they couldn’t afford Farwa’s much-needed surgery. With hope in their hearts, Farwa’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Moved by their plea, we registered her case.

On April 28, 2025, Farwa received Radioactive Iodine (RAI) Ablation Therapy at the Inmol Cancer Hospital in Lahore. Her case was carefully supervised by Dr. Usama Rasheed, who ensured that the procedure was performed safely and effectively.

Farwa shared her feelings in the following words: “When I learned I needed more treatment after surgery, I felt scared and helpless. I was worried about my children. Receiving RAI therapy gave me hope and strength. Words can’t describe how grateful I am.”

Following RAI therapy, Farwa was required to remain in isolation for a short period because her body temporarily released low levels of radiation. Isolation was essential to prevent exposure to family members and to support safe and effective recovery.

Her health is improving steadily, and she is gradually resuming her daily responsibilities. Farwa and her family are deeply grateful to you for standing by her during her battle with cancer.
