Improve Noor’s Quality of Life with a Cholecystectomy

Noor Zarain's Story

Noor Zarain, a 37-year-old man from Malakand, is suffering from pain in his upper right abdominal region. He also faces nausea, vomiting, and indigestion after fatty meals. His condition drains him emotionally and physically and often confines him to bed. His ability to work as a daily wage laborer has also been affected. Recently, he visited a doctor at a nearby hospital. After performing an ultrasound scan and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Noor with Cholelithiasis. It is characterized by the deposition of hard mineral deposits in the gallbladder. To ease his suffering, the doctor recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, the cost of the surgery is out of his financial capacity.

If left untreated, Noor’s condition will continue to worsen over time. He may develop severe complications like gallbladder infection, bile duct obstruction, or even organ damage.

Noor lives in a small rented home with his wife and six children. He is the sole breadwinner of his household, works as a daily wage laborer, and makes just PKR 15,000 per month. With this meager income, they barely manage to pay the house rent of PKR 6,000, utility bills, and food expenses. Due to their financial constraints, they can’t afford Noor’s much-needed surgery.
