Azeema Qadir's Story
Azeema Qadir, a 21-year-old woman from Karachi, is over 32 weeks pregnant and preparing to welcome her first child. This is considered a precious pregnancy due to her medical condition. Azeema has short stature and cephalopelvic disproportion, a condition where the baby’s head may not fit through the mother’s pelvis, increasing the risks of complications during natural childbirth. Her doctor has strongly recommended a C-section to ensure the safety of both the mother and child. Unfortunately, the cost of the C-section is overwhelming for her family.
If Azeema does not undergo the recommended C-section, she may face serious medical risks such as:
Prolonged or obstructed labor
Birth trauma or brain injury
Stillbirth
Azeema’s husband works as a daily wage laborer and is the sole earner for their household. He supports Azeema, his mother, and sister with his modest income, which is around PKR 30,000 per month. They spend approximately PKR 6,000 per month on utility bills, and the remaining amount is barely enough to cover food and basic living expenses. With no savings to rely on, affording the cost of the surgery is beyond their means. During this challenging time, Azeema and her husband contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Azeema said with teary eyes:
“This is my first baby, and I want to do everything right. My condition makes natural childbirth unsafe, but my husband can’t afford the surgery. I ask you to help me during this time of need.”
Azeema dreams of holding her newborn safely in her arms. With proper medical care, her delivery can be a moment of happiness and not of fear. A timely C-section is essential for ensuring a safe outcome for this young mother and her unborn child.
Give charity and stand with Azeema in her first step into motherhood.
