Let’s End Sitara’s Suffering with Cholecystectomy

Sitara Faizan's Story

Sitara Faizan, a 25-year-old woman from Hyderabad, Sindh, has been suffering from persistent pain in the upper right region of her abdomen for the past three years. Her discomfort is often accompanied by nausea and indigestion, making it difficult for her to manage even daily household tasks. Once full of energy and hope, Sitara now finds herself overwhelmed by constant pain and helplessness. Recently, Sitara finally received medical attention. Following a detailed evaluation and necessary diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Cholelithiasis, a condition in which hard mineral stones develop in the gallbladder. To address her condition and restore her health, the doctor has advised her to undergo a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.

 If Sitara doesn’t undergo the surgery, her health may continue to deteriorate due to poor dietary intake. Moreover, continued intake of medicines will disturb her stomach, and she may experience gallbladder infection, bile duct obstruction, or even organ damage.

 Sitara lives with her husband and their young son in a modest house provided by the Government of Sindh. Her husband works as a laborer and earns barely PKR 15,000 per month, an income that is insufficient for managing food and basic needs. With rising living costs, they struggle to meet monthly expenses and cannot afford the high cost of the surgery. The constant burden of illness and financial pressure has left the family in distress.

 Sitara’s condition continues to deteriorate, and without surgery, her pain and complications are likely to worsen. The longer the surgery is delayed, the greater the risk to her health and ability to care for her child. Sitara said in despair:

 “I’ve been suffering from this illness for a long time, but now it has become unbearable. I want to be healthy again and take care of my son without struggling every day. I am asking for your help so I can finally receive this surgery and live without pain.”
