Muhammad Uzair's Story

Muhammad Uzair, a 2-year-old boy from Sargodha, has been suffering from chest discomfort and shortness of breath since birth. His skin occasionally turns blue due to low oxygen levels in his blood, and even mild to moderate physical activity leaves him breathless and weak. Unlike other children of his age, Uzair cannot play without struggling to breathe.

Deeply concerned about his condition, Uzair’s parents took him for a detailed medical evaluation. After conducting necessary tests, the doctor diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a serious congenital heart defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. TOF includes four abnormalities in the heart’s structure, which severely impact the ability to pump oxygenated blood through the body. The doctor has recommended open-heart surgery for total correction, an important procedure that can significantly improve Uzair’s health and development.

If Uzair does not undergo surgery, his condition may lead to:

Increased risk of heart failure

Severely limited physical growth

Chronic oxygen deprivation

Uzair lives in a rented house with his parents and three siblings. His father repairs refrigerators and air conditioners and earns a monthly income of just PKR 30,000. The family pays PKR 7,000 for house rent each month, and the remaining income goes towards daily living expenses and the needs of the children. With such limited resources, they are unable to afford the high cost of Uzair’s open-heart surgery.

In a voice full of concern, Uzair’s father said:

“My son struggles to breathe every day. As a father, I can’t see my son in this condition. I work hard, but my income is barely enough to support the family. Kindly support my son’s life-saving heart surgery.”
