Let’s Heal Abbas’s Heart with Cardiac Surgery

Muhammad Abbas's Story
Since birth, Muhammad Abbas, a 7-year-old boy from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort. His skin and lips often turn blue, a concerning sign that his body is not receiving enough oxygen. He struggles to catch his breath while climbing stairs, playing with his friends, or even laughing. Worried about his worsening condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After running some necessary tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Abbas with Dextrocardia, Unbalanced CAVCD, Transposition of Great Arteries (TGA), and Pulmonary Stenosis (PS). These heart defects interfere with the proper circulation of oxygen-rich blood throughout his body.
To ensure Abbas’s recovery from his heart disease, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for a CP shunt. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for his family. Without this surgery, Abbas is at risk of worsening heart complications. It may result in heart failure, reduced oxygen levels in his blood, and life-threatening complications.
Abbas lives in a one-room brick house with his six family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and earns only PKR 15,000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover their household expenses, including utility bills and grocery expenses. Given their financial situation, they can’t afford to pay for Abbas’s surgery. His parents wish nothing more than to see their son live a normal and healthy life.
Abbas’s father said in despair:
“Abbas’s condition is getting worse day by day. I see him suffering, yet I cannot do anything because of my financial hardships. I just want to see my son healthy and strong. We need your support to save his life.”
