Jameel Khan's Story

Jameel Khan, a 13-year-old boy from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. While playing with friends, walking, or helping at home, his body tires quickly. His lips often turn blue due to a lack of oxygen. His parents took him to a doctor for a thorough medical check-up. After performing the necessary tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart defect that involves four heart abnormalities. The doctor recommended angiography and open-heart surgery for total correction.

TOF is a serious condition, and delaying treatment can result in worsening of symptoms, such as increased cyanosis, heart failure and life-threatening complications. Jameel’s family fears that without timely surgical intervention, his condition may worsen. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond their means.

Jameel lives in a small mud house with his parents and three siblings. His father, a daily wage laborer, earns only PKR 15,000 a month. With this limited income, the family struggles to meet their basic needs. Due to their financial constraints, they cannot afford the cost of such an expensive surgery. They have no savings or financial support from elsewhere. During this time of need, they have turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
