Let’s Save Roop Zahra’s Life with Cardiac Surgery

Roop Zahra's Story

Roop Zahra, an 11-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been living with a life-threatening congenital heart condition since birth. She has experienced persistent shortness of breath and chest discomfort, which have worsened with age. Even light physical activity makes her breathless and exhausted. Recently, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor.

After undergoing a thorough medical evaluation, Roop was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It is a complex congenital heart defect that causes deoxygenated blood to circulate through the body, resulting in cyanosis and severe fatigue. The doctor has recommended angiography and open-heart surgery for total correction, with the possibility of adding a pulmonary valve if required during the operation. However, her family can’t afford her surgery.

Without this surgery, Roop’s condition will continue to deteriorate, putting her life at risk. The doctor warned that delaying the procedure may lead to heart failure or even sudden complications that can be fatal.

Roop lives in a small rented home with her parents and four siblings. Her father works as a daily-wage laborer, earning just PKR 20,000 per month. After paying PKR 5,000 for utility bills and another PKR 5,000 for educational expenses, the family is left with barely enough to cover basic needs. Saving for such an expensive surgery is beyond their reach.

Roop Zahra’s father expressed his heartfelt plea as follows:

“My daughter has suffered every day since birth. I work hard, but I cannot afford this surgery. We need your support during this time of need.”
