Make It Possible for Umar to Beat Heart Disease

Muhammad Umar Khan's Story
Muhammad Umar Khan, a 4-year-old boy from Swat, KPK, has been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. He also faces bluish discoloration of his skin and nails, a sign that his body is not getting enough oxygen. Umar had Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart defect, and a right-sided BT Shunt surgery was performed when he was just a few months old. Over time, he also had a PDA stent and RPA stent inserted to help manage blood flow to his lungs. Despite these efforts, Umar continues to suffer from heart-related complications, and his quality of life is affected by it.
During a recent medical evaluation, Umar was diagnosed with small Pulmonary Arteries. The doctor strongly recommended open-heart surgery, pulmonary artery plasty, and left-sided BT Shunt surgery to improve blood flow and prevent further complications.
Not undergoing this surgery may lead to potential complications like heart failure. As a result, Umar may not be able to beat the disease. However, Umar’s family can’t afford his surgery.
Umar lives with his eight family members in someone else’s house. His father works as a daily wage laborer and earns around PKR 15,000 per month, which barely covers the family’s basic needs. The family is unable to bear the immense financial burden of this life-saving heart surgery. During this time of need, they have turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Umar’s parents said in despair:
“Our son has gone through so much in his young life. He struggles to breathe and play freely. We feel helpless, thinking we cannot afford his life-changing heart surgery. Kindly save Umar’s life. Your support is our only hope.”
