Noor Zaman's Story

Noor Zaman, a 56-year-old man from Charsadda, KPK, was suffering from pain in his left hip joint. He faced difficulty in standing and walking. Performing his routine tasks had become significantly challenging for him. Worried about his condition, he visited a doctor at a local hospital. After performing an X-ray and some necessary lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Noor Zaman with Osteoarthritis in his left hip joint.

In October 2022, with the support of Transparent Hands, Noor underwent a left-sided Total Hip Arthroplasty. The surgery gave him immense relief and allowed him to return to a normal life. Unfortunately, a few months ago, Noor had an accident that damaged his implant. The return of pain and immobility has once again made his life extremely difficult. Therefore, his doctor has advised a revision of Total Hip Replacement (TKR) for his left hip joint.

If Noor Zaman does not undergo surgery, he may experience persistent pain. The condition may worsen over time, leading to joint deformity and further cartilage damage.

Noor lives in a modest rented home with his wife and five children. He is the sole breadwinner of his family, works as a driver, and makes just PKR 18,000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover their house rent of PKR 6000 and utility bills of PKR 4000. Moreover, they are burdened with a significant loan of PKR 400,000. Facing financial constraints, he can’t afford to pay for his surgery.

In a voice filled with pain, Noor said:

“I was blessed with relief once after my first surgery, but my accident brought back the pain I thought I had left behind. I cannot afford the cost of this surgery. I request you to help me stand and walk again.”
