Rameeza Mueen holds an MPhil degree in English Linguistics. She remained affiliated with numerous renowned educational institutions for 15 years. Currently serving as the CEO and Co-Founder of the Transparent Hands (TH), it is her strong sense of philanthropy and social responsibility that made her stand out. She was also awarded the “Laurels of Honor Award” by WCCI in April 2018. These are but a few of her numerous awards, achievements, and features. Rameeza continues to work with zeal for the betterment of her people. It is this determination of hers that provides free-of-cost healthcare to hundreds of Pakistanis today.

Idea Behind Transparent Hands

Hailing from Lahore, Rameeza used to accompany her mother to medical camps in rural areas of Sindh. Rameeza recalls that, “whenever I traveled with my mother who is a doctor, to rural villages, I witnessed people suffering from diseases I had no idea about. My mother used to treat them by giving medicines and free checkups. But this could only provide them temporary relief. Those patients who needed surgical treatment had no access to basic healthcare facilities. The areas I visited had no clinics or hospitals in their villages. People had to travel far away even for a general checkup”. Rameeza mentions that she has been witnessing such cases since she was very young. On a number of occasions, she came across patients who required surgery but were unable to undergo the required treatment because of a lack of resources. There are local hospitals across the country but these hospitals are not enough to cater to the millions of surgical cases. Therefore, due to long waiting lists, hundreds of patients lose the battle of their lives. Some of them fall into the prey of Quacks in their areas who give medicines which could adversely affect their health. Private hospitals were but a distant dream to families who could not even afford staple food, let alone surgeries.

Rameeza soon realized that not only is malpractice rampant in most government hospitals but patients are often put on waiting lists longer than the time they have left to live. Something needed to be done so Rameeza Mueen decided to take the first step. Despite facing a lot of criticism, as is faced by most people who set out to do something great, Rameeza joined hands with her two brothers to set up a platform to provide surgical facilities to the underprivileged masses. This is when Transparent Hands came into being.

What Transparent Hands Does:

Transparent Hands is not simply a Global Crowdfunding Platform rather it is basically a directory of donors and those who need donations and charity, bringing supply and demand together. Once a camp is set up and surgeries required by patients are diagnosed, the patient is medically and financially verified and registered. After consultation with top surgeons, the cost is put up on the Transparent Hands website and marketed to raise funds. There are a number of different payment methods that TH accepts for maximum donations flow. These funds are used to pay private hospitals after the surgery is done with 100% transparency guaranteed. The donors are constantly updated with the progress made through their money. It is this seamless, tailored to perfection system that has helped Transparent Hands conduct 26 medical camps to date with a total of 8620 patients and more than 400 surgeries done free of cost. With outclass private hospitals on board, 45 supporting companies and foundations, numerous achievements and features, Transparent Hands continues to work to provide free healthcare in numerous cities of Pakistan. Transparent Hands mobile application has also been set up for the convenience of donors who can now donate on the go and get updated about the organization’s activities.

Rameeza Mueen envisions Transparent Hands to provide free healthcare throughout Pakistan with a greater database of donors and patient histories. After being successful in healthcare, Rameeza intends to move to other sectors including education. Rameeza also wishes to make Transparent Hands globally renowned so that its services can be given in other developing countries as well including India and Bangladesh where millions of patients are deprived of surgical facilities.
