Aaliya Ghaffar's Story

Aaliya Ghaffar, a 3-year-old innocent girl from Kasur, had been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Her parents came to know about her condition when she was one year old. Aaliya was unable to gain weight like other children of her age. Her skin and lips often turned blue and any mild to moderate physical activity used to make her breathless. Her parents consulted a doctor, who, after running some medical tests, diagnosed her with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and recommended open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the surgery cost was beyond Aaliya’s family’s financial means.

Aaliya’s parents were heartbroken, knowing their beloved child was suffering. Aaliya lives in a small rented house with her three family members. Her father, the family’s sole breadwinner, works as a daily wage laborer and makes just PKR 25000 monthly. Their financial situation was stretched thin and affording the surgical cost was a distant dream for them. During this challenging time, Transparent Hands stepped in to help Aaliya and ensured that she could have a life-saving surgery without waiting too long.

On June 10, 2024, Aaliya was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. The surgery was scheduled for June 16, 2024, and as the day approached, Aaliya’s parents were filled with hope. Dr. Asim Khan skillfully performed the surgery and repaired the defects in Aaliya’s heart.
After several days of careful monitoring and recovery, Aaliya was discharged on July 1, 2024.

Aaliya’s parents were overjoyed to see their daughter breathe without difficulty for the first time in her life. Aaliya’s parents described their happiness as follows:

“This surgery is a turning point for our daughter and has changed her life for the better. Your kindness brought light into Aaliya‘s life. We have no words to describe our happiness as you supported us in our darkest time. Thanks for it.”

Through the successful TOF repair surgery, Aaliya can now play, laugh, and run like any other child of her age. It has allowed her to live a healthy and happy life without the limitations caused by her heart defects.

We are deeply grateful to you and Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for supporting her and giving Aaliya Ghaffar a second chance at life. Your generosity can never be forgotten.
