Abdul Basit 's Story

Eight-year-old Abdul Basit, a resident of Lahore, had been suffering from shortness of breath, cyanosis, and repeated episodes of chest infections. They took him to the local hospital. After running some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with severe coarctation of the aorta (CoA) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). The doctor advised him to undergo coarctation repair and PDA ligation.  His family couldn’t afford the expensive surgery that he needed, but they didn’t lose hope. They reached out to Transparent Hands for the necessary financial assistance. After his case registration, he was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, where his operation was performed by Dr. Asim Khan on 1-02-2023. He spent four days in the hospital recovering, and his condition gradually improved.

The surgery became possible through the support of the PCHF (Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation), Sana Rab Akbar, Tooba Shahid Sherwani, and other generous donors. Abdul Basit is currently recovering well, and his family is overjoyed to witness his restored health and happiness.
