Abdul Shahab's Story

Abdul Shahab, a 6-year-old boy from Rahim Yar Khan, had been suffering from breathlessness, chest discomfort, and cyanosis. His condition prevented him from enjoying a carefree childhood like other kids of his age. Concerned about his deteriorating health, Abdul Shahab’s parents consulted a doctor.

After running diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a condition involving four congenital heart defects that disrupt the heart’s normal blood flow. To save Abdul Shahab’s life, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was far beyond Abdul Shahab’s family’s financial capacity.

Abdul Shahab lived in a modest mud house with his seven family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 20,000 monthly. They struggled to make ends meet with this limited income. Due to their financial limitations, they couldn’t afford the expensive heart surgery. With hope in their hearts, they turned to Transparent Hands. After listening to their concerns, we registered his case.

On November 4, 2024, Abdul Shahab was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. The surgery was performed by Dr. Asim Khan on November 7, 2024. Abdul Shahab received post-operative care for four days and was discharged in satisfactory condition on November 11, 2024.

Abdul Shahab’s parents shared their heartfelt gratitude as follows:
