Afshan Successfully Underwent a C-section

Afshan Hamza's Story

Afshan, a 26-year-old woman from Karachi, was filled with excitement as she reached the 37th week of her pregnancy. She visited a local hospital to consult a gynecologist. After reviewing her medical history, which included a C-section, and performing an ultrasound and physical examination, the doctor advised her to undergo an elective C-section. The recommendation was made after considering the risks associated with attempting a natural birth after a previous Cesarean. However, the cost of the C-section was overwhelming for her family.

Afshan lives in a modest rented home with their child. Her husband works in a private company and earns PKR 37,000 per month. With rent, utility bills, groceries, and the needs of their growing family, their financial situation was already stretched thin. Affording the cost of a C-section seemed impossible. Worried and unsure of what to do, Afshan and her husband turned to Transparent Hands for help. After reviewing her medical and financial situation, we registered her case.

On March 24, 2025, Afshan was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. Her C-section was successfully performed by Dr. Samreen Zeeshan. The procedure went smoothly, and Afshan gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She received post-operative care and was discharged in a stable condition on March 26, 2025.
