Aisha Batool Gained the Ability to Hear
Aisha Batool's Story
Aisha Batool, a 2-year-old from Larkana, was unable to hear the sounds around her. She had never heard her parents’ and siblings’ voices. Upon noticing her unresponsiveness to sounds, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who conducted some lab tests and diagnosed Aisha with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To open the door to the world of sounds for her, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family.
Aisha lived in a small house with her four family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a clerk at a bank. His meager monthly income was insufficient to cover even their utility bills, groceries, and other living expenses. Faced with this hardship, Aisha’s parents were heartbroken, fearing their daughter would never hear their voices or experience the simple joys of sounds around her. During this time of need, Aisha’s parents contacted Transparent Hands and asked us to register her case.
On 2nd October 2024, Aisha was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery took place on 3rd October 2024. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed carefully inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant, giving Aisha new hope in life. Aisha was hospitalized for two days and received post-operative care. On 4th October 2024, Aisha was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.
The external component of the cochlear implant was installed six weeks after the surgery. Aisha’s parents were overwhelmed with happiness when she turned her head for the first time upon hearing their voices. To navigate a new world filled with sounds, Aisha is now attending speech therapy sessions. Aisha’s parents said with happiness:
“We are grateful to everyone who made this possible. Aisha can finally hear us, and it’s a gift we could never have afforded on our own. Thank you for giving our daughter a future filled with sounds.”
Your kindness has changed Aisha’s life, opening up new possibilities and connections for her. They are eternally grateful for your support which has brought immense joy to her family.
