Dua Fatima’s Heart Surgery was successful
Dua Fatima 's Story
One-year-old Dua Fatima, a resident of Khushab, has suffered from dyspnea, cyanosis, and nausea since birth. She was also unable to gain weight. Her parents learned about her condition when she was eight months old. After doing some tests, the cardiologist found that she had several heart problems, including tricuspid atresia, an atrial septal defect (ASD), and a ventricular septal defect (VSD). The cardiac surgeon advised her to undergo open-heart surgery with a CP shunt. However, the financial burden seemed overwhelming for her family, leading them to seek assistance from Transparent Hands.
She was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, where her operation was performed by Dr. Asim on 5-04-2023. After a five-day stay at the hospital, filled with relief and joy, her parents were delighted when she was discharged. Dua Fatima was provided with a separate room and received free medications throughout her stay. The hospital staff demonstrated remarkable cooperation, and the specialized medical team provided her with the best possible care.
The Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation and other donors funded this life-saving surgery. When they saw how well their daughter had recovered, they were overwhelmed with emotion. She had surgery that not only prolonged her life but also opened up a world of possibilities for her. The restoration of her heart’s functionality means that she can lead a normal, healthy life. She will be able to breathe easily and participate in physical activity like other kids her age without the burden of dyspnea, cyanosis, and nausea. The surgery has not only extended her lifespan but has also provided her with the opportunity to grow and thrive. Dua’s newfound health will allow her to explore the world, pursue her dreams, and create cherished memories, unencumbered by the limitations of her previous condition. Now, her heart can beat with the rhythm of hope and vitality.
