Ghulam Safdar Had a Successful Total Hip Replacement
Ghulam Safdar's Story
Ghulam Safdar, a 60-year-old man from Dera Ghazi Khan, was experiencing severe pain in his right hip. He couldn’t even stand or walk for a long period and carrying out his routine tasks was significantly challenging for him. Concerned about his condition, he went to a doctor, who after conducting some medical tests and an x-ray, diagnosed Ghulam with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the hip joint, a condition that restricts blood flow to the bones. The doctor recommended non-cemented total hip replacement surgery. However, Ghulam was unable to pay for the surgery.
Ghulam was unemployed due to his condition and was dependent on his relatives for daily living expenses. He lives in a small house with his wife and three daughters. Due to their financial constraints, affording the surgery was simply impossible for them as they were hardly struggling to make ends meet. That’s when Transparent Hands stepped in to offer the support he desperately needed.
On 13th May 2024, Ghulam was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Hospital in Multan. The surgery took place on 15th May 2024. Dr. Muhammad Adeel skillfully performed his hip replacement surgery. Ghulam was hospitalized for three days and received post-operative care. On 17th May 2024, Ghulam recovered and was discharged in stable condition.
After a successful procedure, he finally found relief from the constant pain that had dominated his life for months. Slowly, he began walking again, regaining his freedom and independence. He was grateful for the support he received, and said:
“I had lost all hope. The pain was unbearable, and I thought I would never walk again. I can stand, walk, and live my life again. You have changed my life.”
Ghulam and his family extend their deepest gratitude to the donors who made this life-changing surgery possible. Your generosity not only brought him relief from pain but also restored his dignity and hope for a bright future.
