Hassan’s Heart Healed with your Generosity

Hassan Muhibb Ullah's Story

Hassan, a 12-year-old boy from Quetta, was grappling with the distressing symptoms of shortness of breath and cyanosis, indicating a worsening state of health. Recognizing the urgency, his parents wasted no time and sought medical attention at a nearby hospital, where they were referred to a skilled cardiologist.

After a series of diagnostic tests and a thorough evaluation, it became evident that surgical intervention was imperative to address Hassan’s Mitral valve disease. In 2021, he underwent a mechanical mitral valve replacement (MVR) in hopes of finding relief. However, complications arose as a paravalvular leak and aortic regurgitation developed due to perforation. It was clear that Hassan needed a Redo open-heart surgery to repair both the aortic valve (AV) and the mitral valve (MV) to restore his cardiovascular health.

Sadly, Hassan’s father was facing financial instability, and the family had no other source of income. The burden of the necessary surgical expenses seemed insurmountable in their current circumstances, leaving them in a state of despair.

In their darkest moments, they reached out to Transparent Hands, an organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to those in need. Transparent Hands became a beacon of hope for Hassan and his family, diligently working to connect them with the necessary resources and support. Recognizing the urgency and gravity of Hassan’s condition, Transparent Hands rallied the support of compassionate donors who understood the significance of giving a young boy a chance at a better life.

Hassan was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital,  Lahore, where Dr. Asim Khan, performed the Redo median sternotomy and meticulously repaired both the aortic valve and the mitral valve on 18-09-2023.  Hassan’s seven-day stay at the hospital was marked by the compassionate care and dedication of the medical team.

To the compassionate donors who selflessly contributed to Hassan’s surgery, we express our deepest gratitude. Your generosity has not only alleviated the financial burden on Hassan’s family but has also given them renewed hope and strength. Your kindness has provided Hassan with a second chance at life, enabling him to pursue his dreams free from the constraints of his medical condition.
