Horain Fatima's Story

At just 4 years old, Horain’s young life has already been consumed by a debilitating heart condition. From shortness of breath to chest pain, this brave little girl Horain from Sargodha bravely fights symptoms that rob her of the simple joys of childhood.

Horain’s struggle began when her parents first noticed her distressing symptoms a year into her life. After extensive testing, doctors delivered the difficult diagnosis – Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex heart defect requiring immediate surgical intervention.

But for Horain’s family, the path to treatment was riddled with daunting obstacles. Her father, the sole breadwinner, earns a meager 25,000 PKR per month as a driver – a sum barely sufficient to cover their basic needs, let alone the staggering cost of the critical cardiac surgery.

Facing this dire financial predicament, Horain’s family reached out to Transparent Hands, a non-profit organization providing healthcare support to those in need. With the generous donations of caring supporters, Horain was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore, where skilled surgeon Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed the life-saving median sternotomy, VSD closure, and RVOTO resection.

After just 8 days in the hospital, the resilient young girl was discharged, her health restored and her future brightened. Now, Horain and her family are profoundly grateful for the support that has given her a second chance at a healthy, happy life.
