Iqra Bibi's Story
Iqra, a resilient 1-year-old from Lahore, embarked on a remarkable journey towards a healthier heart. Admitted to UOLTH (University of Lahore Teaching Hospital) on 16th December 2023, Iqra and her family hoped for a brighter future. Iqra was diagnosed with two congenital heart defects: an atrial septal defect (ASD), which is a hole in the heart’s upper chambers, and partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC), where some of the pulmonary veins are not properly connected.
Under the skilled care of Dr. Faiz Rasool, a renowned cardiac surgeon, Iqra underwent a life-changing surgical procedure called ASD closure + PAPVC repair on 18th December 2023. The surgery aimed to repair both the ASD and PAPVC, allowing for improved blood flow and overall heart function. This procedure marked a significant milestone in Iqra’s journey towards a healthier and more vibrant life.
During her hospital stay, Iqra received exceptional care from the dedicated medical team at UOLTH. The healthcare professionals provided her with comfort, closely monitored her progress, and ensured her well-being during the recovery process. Their expertise and compassionate support played a vital role in Iqra’s successful surgery and her subsequent discharge on 21st December 2023.
The success of Iqra’s story would not have been possible without the support and generosity of two remarkable organizations, PCHF (Patient’s Care and Health Foundation) and Transparent Hands donors. Their contributions, both significant and small, made a profound impact on Iqra’s life. By alleviating the financial burden of the surgery and medical expenses, these compassionate organizations enabled Iqra to access the necessary cardiac care.
Iqra’s journey from facing the challenges of congenital heart defects to the successful ASD closure and PAPVC repair surgery and subsequent discharge on 21st December 2023 serves as a powerful testament to the transformative power of medical advancements, resilience, and the support of compassionate organizations and individuals. Her unwavering spirit, coupled with the skillful intervention of Dr. Faiz Rasool and the generosity of PCHF and Transparent Hands donors, opened the doors to a brighter future filled with limitless possibilities.
