Irfan Successfully Underwent Excision of Pilonidal Sinus

Irfan Ramzan's Story

Irfan Ramzan, a 21-year-old resident of Lahore, had been experiencing swelling and discharge from his lower back for three months. He had a non-healing wound at his tailbone and faced repeated bouts of infection which impacted his quality of life. Concerned about his condition, he consulted a doctor who conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Irfan with a Pilonidal Sinus – a small cyst or abscess that forms in the cleft at the top of the buttocks. After evaluation, the doctor recommended the excision of the pilonidal sinus. Unfortunately, the surgical cost was beyond Irfan’s financial capacity.

Irfan lives In a small rented house with his joint family of five members. Irfan is an employee at a bakery and brings in just PKR 18000 per month. Irfan’s life was badly affected due to his condition and he experienced pain and tenderness in the affected area while sitting or walking. The pain worsened with activity or after sitting for a long period. Irfan desperately wanted to undergo the surgery but his financial constraints prevented him from doing so. After struggling for a while, Irfan found Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Moved by his plea we registered his case.

The day of hope arrived and Irfan was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital on 11th July 2024. The surgery was scheduled for the same day. Dr. Ahmad Fawad skillfully performed his surgery and filled Irfan with new hope and resilience. Post-surgery, Irfan received critical monitoring and essential medications. Irfan recovered and was discharged in a stable condition on 12th July 2024.

Irfan was happy and expressed his emotions as follows:
