Jannat Fatima underwent Successful Open-Heart Surgery

Jannat Fatima's Story

Jannat Fatima, a newly born resident of Rawalpindi, had been suffering from shortness of breath, cyanosis, and episodes of fever and chest pain. Her parents took her to a nearby hospital to consult with a cardiologist. After a thorough evaluation and some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with multiple heart defects, including transposition of the great arteries (TGA), ventricular septal defect (VSD), patent foramen ovale (PFO), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and pulmonary hypertension (PH). The cardiologist advised her to undergo an arterial switch operation and a median sternotomy. 

Unfortunately, her family could not afford the cost of the surgery. They desperately needed financial assistance and turned to Transparent Hands at this time. The funds for the surgery were arranged successfully.

She was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, where her operation was performed by Dr. Asim on 19-05-2023. The surgery was a resounding success, and she was discharged from the hospital after a twenty-nine-day stay, much to the relief and joy of her family. During her stay at the hospital, she also developed acute abdomen pain and underwent another surgery for right-sided hemicolectomy for intussusception after laparotomy by Dr. Daud on 31-05-2023.  The Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation and some other generous donors helped make her cardiac surgery possible. 

The operation not only extended her life but also gave her new opportunities. She can finally live her life to the fullest now that her health has been restored. Without the help of generous people like you, none of this would have been possible. Her life and the lives of her entire family have been profoundly impacted by your contributions. There is no way to measure the emotional relief her parents feel knowing their daughter has been given a chance at a happy and healthy future.
